In Which We Discuss Things to Do Instead of Finding a New Job

During this period of Enforced Inactivity, I am happy to report that there are compensations. First, I am forced to spend more time in California - which, although it has all the the terrible features everyone always talks about (smog, traffic, random and tremendous fires, imminent bridge collapses) also has a lot more noodle opportunities than I'm used to. Not to mention people who look like they might know how important a noodle opportunity is.

The current projects are as follows:
1) Ameliorating the 'rents garden so that it looks like...a garden. At present it looks like something out of Jumanji, when the jungle appears in the house. My mother hired a landscaping company to do a couple of things and the expression on the foreman's face was priceless. I wanted to pull him aside and say, "Right? Right? Isn't it ridiculous? Could you please tell her?"
2) Scouting out all my opportunities for Lee's Sandwiches Vietnamese coffee. I am on number 5 of 10 possible. Plus, my friend Piper has looked into the franchise system and, although I do not have the three million dollars it takes for the franchise purchase, I still feel it's important to compare the different varieties.
